First drop!
With another lockdown coming into force on Thursday, today was our last chance to ride the bikes until December, so we went to the seaside.
Brekky at the Cafe on the Corner in Walmer stopped the tummies rumbling before popping along to the seafront at Deal.
Fabulous views of Dover Castle from up on the hill and then a quick stop at the White Cliffs - free entry for motorcycles.
Being ditherers and never managing to decide where to park we mosied along before turning up the hill into the gravel car park at the top.
I (Isabel) missed the gearing just as I was turning left uphill onto the gravel and hitting neutral, the bike stalled. I couldn't stop it going over as the ground to my left was slightly too far away and by the time my foot got purchase the bike had passed the point of no return and was only going one way.
I felt a right wally as I sprawled across the mud and picked myself up. Poor woman nearby got a shock but I assured her I was fine and just highly embarrassed!
Nice man ran across the car park and helped us pick it up. Fellow biker 👍. Unfortunately Carl aggravated an old ankle injury in the process and has been limping since, making me feel even more annoyed at myself for falling off!
Pleased to report that there's no damage. The Barkbusters handguards did their job, taking the brunt of the weight with ease. The Rally Raid mirror remained unscathed and pushed itself out of harm's way, and the Outback Motortek crash bars didn't even have a scratch on them despite hitting the dirt and stones!
We didn't think to take a photo of the bike having a lie down. We're useless. There is one of me sulking afterwards though. Lol. (See cover image).
I thought the first drop would be off road, nice and dramatic in four feet of mud or leaping over a log (ok I know I don't leap), not going into a car park at 5mph!!! What a numpty. 😆
A misty ride home but lovely to get out for the afternoon. It's going to be a long four weeks!
