Chasing the Dream just got closer...

Everything in the news is just totally depressing just now and so I thought I'd write a blog to cheer us all up and keep focussed on the dream...

We have had our new Yamaha Ténéré 700s a week now. See the YouTube video below of us collecting them last Saturday. Buying these bikes is the first major step towards our round the world trip. We're chasing the dream.

The last two weekends we have been out and about running the bikes in. We have done 328 miles so far so just another 272 until their first service.

So what do we think so far?

It's hard to explain the relationship you have with your bike. It becomes a friend and it becomes a part of you. We were really pretty sad to part with our Tracer and Tiger. We have had many adventures on those bikes and they were fundamental to kick starting Life2 on-tour. We kind of feel we have betrayed them by trading them in, but the bank balance made it impossible to keep them. So while we rode away from the dealer on the T7s feeling very excited, we also felt an immense amount of guilt and regret. Silly? Maybe, but that's the relationship you have with your bike...

This weekend we definitely felt that we have started to bond with the T7s. We're getting to know their quirks and idiosyncrasies and we're bonding with them.

It's been like Christmas with new bits and pieces arriving. We've fitted the T7Rally screen riser, which was really easy to install and works really well. We've also fitted Barkbuster handguards. These should provide a bit more protection to the levers in the event of a drop.

And of course our Life2 sticker has been applied!

I think we can safely say that we are starting to love these bikes and we have made the right choice.
