Bye Bye Blighty.

Well, here we are with just hours to go.

What seemed so far away back in February when we made this dream a reality, is now upon us.

How do we feel? Excited, nervous, worried, chilled out – all these at once. We can’t wait to get there and want to try and savour every minute as, while three weeks seems a very long time at the minute, it will be over in a flash. One thing we will both enjoy – being out of this heat here! Tomorrow will be a very hot and uncomfortable ride getting up to Hamburg, but on Sunday as we reach Norway, the temperature should be a manageable 19°/20°.

As we cross the Arctic Circle we expect it will drop to around 8° or 9° (maximum daily temp). Then we may need our heated jackets on…

The packing is all done and the bikes are washed, polished, checked over and loaded; tyre pressures done; speedos and trip switches set to kilometres; clocks put forward an hour.

This really is a trip of a lifetime and the biggest adventure we’ve been on together. We expect rain, sun, snow – the lot; many highs, a few lows, laughter and at times no doubt, tears.
